3 Wheeled Buggies
A 3-wheel buggy is perfect for off-road jogging and taking on terrains, from bumpy pavements to woodland tracks. They can also be easier to manoeuvre up and down kerbs than models with four wheels.
Kath who is the editor of MadeForMums reviews, tried one of these 3-wheelers on tarmac and on various terrains. Read her review here.
Stability
Four-wheel buggies with their centre of gravity balanced by the weight of your child in the seat, are generally more stable than three-wheelers. Three-wheel buggies are worthwhile to consider as they are able to take on anything from rough terrain to busy streets.
For a buggy that's easy to handle and won't fall over on bumpy roads, look for one with big rear wheels and a lockable front wheel. These buggies for all-terrain use also have pneumatic tires, which are ideal for handling unpaved surfaces. They can be used on sandy beaches and tracks in woodlands.
They're also excellent buggies to run with since they offer excellent stability in rough terrain and can help you stay with your running companion. They're also excellent at going up and down steep kerbs and a majority come with suspension built-in which means your child will enjoy a comfortable ride.

A stroller with three wheels can be a challenge to maneuver because of its wide frame. It is more difficult to get through doorways and narrow spaces than a 4-wheeler. Some manufacturers have solved this issue with clever design that turns the wheels upside down when they are not being used. This reduces their size and makes them easier to fit through doors.
If yes, make sure to check for a lie-flat location and whether the design is compatible with second seats and buggy boards (if you'd like to add an infant onboard). If so, make sure it has an upright position and if the design is compatible with other seats and buggy boards (if you're planning to put a toddler onboard). A majority of 3-wheelers can fold flat and be put up in a upright position. This is a good option when you have an unwieldy boot space or a small amount of storage space at home. However, some require you to remove the front wheel before folding if you wish to fit into more compact space.
Manoeuvrability
Three-wheeled buggies are more movable than strollers with four wheels. They typically come with a swivelling front wheel that lets you shift direction quickly and steer using only one hand. Certain models come with wheels that lock to offer stability on rough terrain. Some models can even be used with a second seat or buggy board in case you're planning to expand your family.
If you plan to take your three-wheeled buggies off the roads that are paved then you should opt for one with pneumatic tyres. They can handle even the most difficult terrain. These tyres may require pumping up occasionally but will be far more durable than tyres made of solid rubber and are more likely to be puncture-proof. Find a model with a an adjustable swivelling front wheel that locks to help you negotiate tricky surfaces.
When folded, three-wheelers may be heavier than four-wheeled buggies due to the single wheel in front. Check that the model you pick can fit in the boot of your car and can be placed upright if needed. Some models can be folded using one hand, and they can be rearranged when folded. This can help save space in small car boot.
A quality three-wheel pushchair will be used on all terrains from busy roads to forest tracks. It's important to consider the way you'll use it every day. If you'll be running the school run using it, it must be able to handle steep slopes and kerbs. If you intend to jog on it, ensure it has a swivelling "stretch front wheel' that can be locked. This will help keep the ride in place.
MFM reviewer Kath found her three-wheeled buggy was able to handle well on both rural and urban walks. Kath said it was able to negotiate rocky paths, cobbles, and bumpy pavements easily and felt pleasant when jogging. It is also a good option for day trips since it has a lot of storage space. It comes with a large, spacious, zip-top covered basket and an expandable, 50+ UV hood. It can also be adapted to fit babies as young as a lie-flat seat or carry cot, in addition to being compatible with most popular second seats and buggy boards.
Fabric Sling Seat
The primary distinction between a fabric and a modular seat is the fabric sling. It is a part of the buggy frame, as opposed to being placed on top of it like the modular chair. This allows for a more ergonomically appropriate position for the baby, which results in a lower center of gravity that is just the right height. This leads to a more comfortable push, a lighter curb-pop (you don't need to exert the same effort and weight to lift the buggy off the curb) and increased stability and balance.
These seats also come with sling fabrics that are easy to clean and durable. Developed specifically with applications for sling chairs in mind These fabrics are extremely UV-resistant and breathable. They are also easy to maintain using mild soap and warm water.
If you're a jogger, or are a fan of off-roading, an all-terrain 3 wheeler is likely to be more suited to your needs than a buggy with four wheels. These models are generally larger base, more stable, and use air-filled tyres to ensure smooth, easy moving on uneven ground.
A brand that is most famous for its car seats, Maxi-Cosi has recently added a new 3-wheeler to its lineup with the Stella. This all-terrain stroller boasts a spacious and large seat that can be set either parent or world facing. It also reclines flat and has an improved 5-point safety belt. It can be used from birth using a carrycot or car seat and comes with a generously large shopping basket and hood with zip pockets, and a simple one-hand fold.
Designed for the most discerning buggy owners this luxurious 3 wheeler is as stunning to look at as it is to operate. The sleek frame is finished in an eye-catching pewter black, with hints of silver-burnished aluminium all over, giving it a real WOW factor. This is a great option for active parents. It has a large, padded seat which can be positioned either in the direction of the parent or facing the world. It also comes with an upgraded 5-point harness and an entire set of rain covers.
Modular Seat
Modular seating offers many different configurations that can be adapted to different seating needs. 3 wheel pushchair seating can be easily adjusted to create a cozy setting for watching movies, or a large arrangement to entertain guests. Many modular seating systems come with removable cushions, making it easy to clean up spills and stains.
Modular Seating can be designed to blend in with the existing decor or stand out as an accent piece. You can pick from a range of colors, fabrics and shapes to design a modular seating that suits your personal style. Modular seating also comes with various useful features, such as hidden storage compartments that make it easy to storage.
3-wheel buggies are especially suitable for off-road and all terrain adventures as they have more stability than 4-wheel strollers. The large, highly manoeuvrable front wheel enables agile and smooth motion, while the tyres are typically air filled and have suspension, which gives you a great ride on the roughest of trails and roads. They are also ideal for walking up hills as the wheels aren't as close to the ground as they are on four wheel pushchairs.
Parents who love to run and jog with their babies often choose 3-wheel prams because they are more agile and sleeker than their four-wheel counterparts. The GB Upp XL for example is a sleek and polished aluminium frame, with an easy one-hand fold as well as rear and forward facing seats. Meanwhile, the Babyzen Yoyo has an all black frame, a carrycot that has a the ability to lie flat in full air-filled tyres, and three recline positions.
Another excellent all-terrain option is the incredibly light, extremely maneuverable and fashionable Mountain Buggy Sport verso. This buggy will last you from birth, and comes with a carrycot and toddlerhood with the modular seat. All of this is done within the footprint of one buggy.
The most recent model, duet(tm), is a side-byside buggy that's small enough for urban living yet big on innovation and control. It features an exclusive seat made of fabric that is placed in the frame with a perfect fit at the right height to distribute weight. 3 wheel pushchair makes it easy kerb jumping and navigating neighborhoods and cities.
